Ron Tibert Sr.

Ron Tibert 1999 Ron Tibert (Sr.), Scotia Glass’s founder, has been in the business since 1973. G-Lebeau based in Halifax, was the first company that got him started. (Note: Just think, auto glass Shops were not invented until around this time. All glass was ordered and installed at the dealer. Most times the wait was weeks or months for rail cars to arrive with glass) Soon later, the company was acquired by Standard Auto Glass. A focused hard working individual, eventually to become manager of the Halifax location and ultimately regional manager of Atlantic Canada (Nova Scotia, PEI, New Brunswick and Newfoundland). Under his creative leadership, a legacy company was thriving. The 1980’s were fast paced and Ron was able to show record profits for the company and provide quality service to the real people, real businesses, his customers. Ron is a kind, giving, “Company man” but the success came at a price, -family.

Business professionals who hold these positions that give maybe one weekend a month to be home with family, missing the kids first step, missing out on date night, endure a life balance that often is corrosive to the mind body and spirit, and for Ron a change was needed. The only way was “up” in the company, an amazing sought after promotion to the board room in Toronto was a choice, but not a good family choice. We always talk about the most important things in life, time which is invaluable and expensive and those we love, family. Ron’s father (Stephen Tibert) passed away in the spring 1989 and although he never said this is why or a reason he resigned, we can just guess that time and family come first and money doesn’t create the ultimate happiness. He always remained loyal to the company, the men and women he worked with, whilst he regretfully resigned………..

Standard Auto Glass has been since been purchased by the Belron International (Owns Apple Auto Glass, Speedy Auto Glass and Standard Auto Glass, Insurance call centres, glass suppliers), and Standard Auto Glass only has a few open stores in Canada today.

Almost every person in the glass industry in Atlantic Canada today has been inspired or worked along side Ron (Sr.) at one time or another. Ron is also the creator of the company Alpine Auto Glass developed in 1989, which had expanded throughout central Nova Scotia. A franchise business that still continues today.

Ron still has the passion and loves to be an industry disruptor. Ron still has much to offer the auto glass industry and hopes to continue serving satisfied motorists for years to come in Atlantic Canada..
